I know next to nothing about this group except that they didn't release much. I stumbled over this track many many years ago and loved it from the first listen. Their song Längst Vorbei is really good as well and was actually the real a-side on the EP from which Kalte Erotik came from, but sadly I can't find a link for you to listen. ..So! Instead I just went and uploaded it for you:

YOU'LL HAVE A BOY TONIGHT.

Seeing these guys tonight in Copenhagen! I seriously dare anyone to not like this band. Not many cute charming indie bands have the edge that Belle & Sebastian add to their pretty songs. This band means summer, teenage melancholy and being helplessly in love, but also quirkiness, surprises and a charming "rough draft" feel to everything they make.

Their newest album wasn't their best, but have been getting a lot of spins anyway because - the thing is - you just instantly feel good when you put on a Belle & Sebastian record. I really hope they deliver at the concert!

Another favourite "Rocket Man" here. This song has actually been with me for a much longer time - I love Pearls Before Swine.

The posted song just got stuck in my head today. My Morning Jacket is a band I am just getting to know. I love this Elton John cover. While not exactly groundbreaking in their sound, I like their stuff. Fits my mood today.

VIV ALBERTINE (THE SLITS) LIVE IN CPH.

Dig The Slits? 

It's that post punk time again! My colleague Lars is throwing yet another concert at his house under the concept Lillely Live (he has an annex with a stage and sound studio). Last time, I experienced an amazing night in the company of David Thomas (Pere Ubu) and this time Viv Albertine from legendary postpunk/grrrlband The Slits will be giving an exclusive solo performance for an audience of 35 people tops.

As last time I am very green when it comes to Viv's solo stuff, but have recently become quite fond of The Slits. Been listening to their most popular album, Cut, and love the sound of it which has a very bratty and angry, yet fun and danceable sound. The dub influences suit the music and I say this as someone who usually despise reggae.

I remember reading an interview with Ari Up, the leading member of The Slits, who died of cancer last year, in a book I own called Tape Delay a long time ago. Back then I didn't know their music at all, but I remember the fantastic stories Ari shared. Because she and her band were flirting with many different subcultures in Britain at the same time, they got to really experience the clashes between punks, skins and the black community.

Hopefully Viv too will have exciting stories to tell when she performs in february - in her songs as well as before and after the concert (backstage is the garden of Lillely!).

I actually didn't think I would need to advertise for this event as I expected the tickets to be long gone by now, but since Lars still have some on sale, I would like to highly recommend you purchasing one!

SUICIDE'S EASY WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REVOLUTION.

I ended up not going to the concerts with Efterklang and Sleep Party People mentioned in the other blog. Tired and off colour due to classes on a saturday (!) I spent my evening eating duck and apple-pie at my boyfriend's parents' place and then falling asleep after watching ten minutes of a movie. Living the dream!

Same case tonight actually. I had kind of considered maybe checking out The Crystal Castles concert at Vega, but after all I think will stay in. The band is fuelled with so much hype, but has kinda failed to really impress me yet. Some tracks are right on the spot, but they are few. The Robert Smith collaboration was pretty bad if you ask me and I say this as someone who loves The Cure.  To me it sounds like a so-so Cure-track rolled in a lot of clubbing noise just for the sake of sounding unique and modern.

But enough bullshit about things I didn't- and won't do.

Saturday I am catching my second concert with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club this year at Den grå hal, Christiania. Last time I saw them they played at Vega and performed a good, but not fantastic show. High hopes for saturday's gig. Last time they played Den grå hal they earned a top rating by the Danish music magazine Gaffa.

Although bordering on/swimming in a rock cliché I do think BRMC have their own soul somewhere under their leather jackets and that super pretentious name - and that makes the cliché totally okay to me. Especially since my favourite memories of their music, particularly the album Baby 81, spin around a time of my life where I myself was in the middle of romance drenched with (rock) clichés. What I found out back then was how real a cliché sometimes can feel. Their lead singer Peter Hayes also holds a special place in my heart, having played in Brian Jonestown Massacre earlier in his career.
