Going to the cinema for a showing of the documentary DIG! tonight!
Created by director Ondi Timone, this documentary is about the bands Brian Jonestown Massacre (huge fan!) and The Dandy Warhols (fan). I've seen it several times before, but unlike other music documentaries it's totally worth watching more than once.
Besides telling the story of the two bands growing up together it's also about bands in general - the popularity/fame issue and knowing what you're doing business-wise with a band opposed to being fucked up sabotaging your success. On top of that it's really entertaining and movie-like because so many hours have been compiled, leaving no long-drawn scenes.
Guest commentators such as Genesis P-Orrige are only icing on the cake.
Highly recommended!
The movie is only showing tonight since it's part of the Film & Music festival, currently happening, but go find it online/on dvd.
DIG!, Cinemateket 07.15 pm.
